Completed December OMG

I finished 2 of these Divided Baskets pattern by Noodlehead which was my December One Monthly Goal. I do like this pattern and may sew more down the road.

This one I am going to use around the house or on our camper. I've had this fabric sitting in a dresser drawer for about 5 years so it is time it has been put to good use.

This Owl basket I finished at the beginning of December for my Friend's baby shower. She said it was really cute and it is now sitting on the dresser in her baby's room. This basket does make a very nice size for a box of baby diapers.

So I have completed my  December OMG and linking up to Elm Street Quilts OMG December Finish.

2017 Goals

Joining the party over at Quilting Jet Girl's 2017 Planning Party .
I've been sewing and quilting for about 10 years, but only blogging about 2 years. So these are my goals for 2017:

1.) I completed 2 larger-size quilts in 2016 so my goal is to complete 3 larger-size quilts in 2017. I will be lucky to get this done because I jump around and make smaller projects in between. Plus, sometimes it takes me forever to baste the quilt and complete the quilting.

2.) I collected a lot of fabric in 2015 and 2016 so I need to weed through my drawers and use it up.  I have not made a dent in the fabric in these tins. Whatever gave me the idea I could sew these monthly?

3.) Sew some smaller projects ahead for gifts. That way when I need a gift for an occasion, I will have a few ready to choose from. I'm sure I could use these table toppers for gifts.
4.) Get better at blogging. My blog is definitely not the greatest. It took me a while just to figure out how to add a button. I also need to learn to post on Instagram. Haven't posted anything yet. I do not make the best use of my phone.
5.) Attempt some Free Motion Quilting and Quilting with Rulers. I purchased the Quilting with Rulers class, but I have not done it yet because I cannot find the presser foot.

Divided Basket - Owls

I finished this Divided Basket for my Friend's baby shower on Sunday.
This is the 1st one that I made from this pattern. It came together nicely. I used all fat quarters that I've had sitting in a dresser drawer for quite a while, except for the blue solid.
My Friend said it was really cute and it was  nice to have because she didn't receive any other totes. It will be nice for her to carry diapers and wipes to a different room for the baby. The size of this Divided Basket is just about right for holding a package of diapers and some wipes, plus lotion or even a toy. December OMG

I decided to sew a Divided Basket for my Friend's baby shower. It is started and I have only until 12/10/2016 to complete it. It has been hard finding time to complete things lately, but I am going to try to have this done for her shower.

I started another one, first so that I could use it as a template. The pattern pieces are "on fold" so I wanted to just measure and cut the "owl" one without using the pieces.

So here is my One Monthly goal for December - to get these both sewn. I am linking to December OMG

Teapot Pouch

This is a pouch that I made from a free tutorial  for Splendid Notions Pouch by Charise Creates

I gave this to my sister as a Christmas gift. She lives in another state from me so it was easy enough to mail.
Inside has this cute green print and 2 slip pockets.

Christmas Frivol

Finished this Christmas table covering.

This was #5 on my Q4 Finish Along List I'm liking how it turned out and used it on my end table during Christmas.

I quilted a cross hatch so the quilting was done pretty quickly.

This is Frivol #10. I guess I got suckered in by the cute tins.

I only needed 1 yard of backing and I've had this Riley Blake Chevron print in my stash for quite a while. I thought it fit nicely for the back. I barely squeaked out the binding from a fat quarter.

Finished Quilt

Finally finished this quilt for my Mom. This is a quilt I've been working on since Spring. I really enjoyed piecing it. The blocks were done with strip piecing and I quilted straight lines at 1/4". I'm pleased with how it turned out.

I pieced a label from some leftovers. It turned out cute. The backing is all this pretty yellow print that I didn't even realize had little birdies on it.

The binding is done on the bias and my sister-in-law thought it looked like Juicy Fruit. This was my #1 Finish  on my Q4 Finish Along.

My cat, Lucky, decided to check it out.

One Monthly Goal - November

Here is my One Monthly Goal for November. Unfortunately, my sewing machine is out of commission for the first 2 weeks so my goal has to be small.
Before I took my machine to the Brother store, I finished 2 paper-pieced blocks intended for this pouch. So once I get my sewing machine back, it shouldn't take long to complete the pouch.

Therefore, my OMG for November will to be complete this pouch. I am planning on using it for a Christmas gift. Linking up with  Elm Street Quilts - OMG November

Ironing Board Cover

My ironing board has been ugly for quite some time. I have had the pattern Cotton Way Ironing Board Cover and this Alexander Henry sewing themed fabric sitting in a drawer for about 2 years.
My husband went away so I had a Saturday all to myself. I pulled this out and started working on it. I'm pleased with how it turned out.
I made the flying geese with scrappy whites.

Now I can enjoy my ironing. This was on my Q4 Finish Along List so I am linking to Q4 Finishes at Clover and Violet

Q4 Finish Along list

Following is my list for Q4 Finish Along:

1.) First up, I need to finish this quilt for my Mom. It's getting done and it definitely will be completed by the end of this quarter.
2.) Going to start this quilt. Maybe it will be done. If not, it will move on to next year. I won this fabric in a blog hop and I would love to have a new quilt for my spare bedroom.
3.) This Christmas quilt top needs put together and quilted. My friend gave me the quilt top years ago. I need to finish it to use for Christmas. Very Vintage.
4.) Apple Pouch from Playful Little Paper-Pieced Projects
5.) Quilt and bind this Christmas Frivol. I completed the top a month or so ago. This is a nice size that I can use on my square table beside my couch. It definitely needs something new. I've had one of my first completed quilts sitting on it for a long time.
6.) Another Frivol #9. I would like to finish this for a Christmas gift for my sister. She likes handmade items and she could probably use it around her house somewhere.
7.) This Frivol I would like to make, possibly for a gift for my Mom.
8.) This Frivol I might start working on when I get the chance.

9.) This Adelaide Bag would be a quick project from Amy Friend's book "Intentional Piecing". I might make a couple of these for gifts.
10.) Basket - another fairly quick project from Anna Graham's book "Handmade Style". I'd like to make a couple of these possibly for gifts. I have had some of this fabric for years and it needs to be made into something! My drawers are filled with fabric.
11.) This cute Splendid Notions Pouch by Charise Creates. So cute. Don't know what 6 1/2" block I will use for the front yet, but I'll figure it out.
12.) This ironing board cover. I have had this sitting in a dresser drawer for a couple of years so it needs done, especially since my ironing board only has the ugly heat-resistant cover on it now.

I've chosen some smaller projects so I can use some of these for Christmas gifts. I think handmade gifts are the nicest. Plus, the larger quilts that I choose to make seem to take so long that I get burnt out. Next year, I have a few quilts picked out to get started on. Linking up to Q4 Finish Along at Clover & Violet

Spectrum Clutch

I made this Heidi Staple's Spectrum Clutch for my long-time girlfriend, Denise.

I have known Denise since Kindergarten. She moved across country after college. I have only seen her twice, I think, in over 30 years. We got together for lunch so I wanted to give her a small gift. I think it turned out very pretty. My friend was a little impressed that I can actually sew now. We took Home-Ec in Junior High, but we didn't get very far back then. We had a little chuckle about Home-Ec class. Linking up to Elm Street Quilts Bag It

Rainbow Clutch

This is my completed Rainbow Clutch that I've sewn from Anna Graham's book Handmade Style. It is shown on the front of the book. I really like it and I plan on using it at an upcoming wedding in October.

I love navy blue and I picked out Liberty lawn that I've had in my stash for the pieced front. Linking this finish to Bag It at Elm Street Quilts. You can link up your bag, too. They have great tutorials to follow for bags. This was my 2nd completion on the Finish Along Q3 It is #8 on my list here:Q3 FAL.I did not have a photo when I made the list. My list for the last quarter will be short and sweet, all with photos. Because I don't get all of these projects done.

Finished Star/Log Cabin Quilt

Finished one of my Q3 goals.  Original post was here: Finish Along List Q3 This is my Star/Log Cabin quilt. I followed a pattern from Fons & Porter "Love of Quilting" magazine, Jan/Feb 2015.

I'm pleased with how it turned out. And I'm pleased that it's finished! This is a gift for my Aunt who's been asking for a quilt. It's a nice throw size for the couch. Since she's always lived in an apartment I thought that would be the best size. I quilted this in a cross hatch going first through the stars.

Hipbag Hybrid

I'm enjoying my new Hipbag Hybrid. This is a pattern from Studio Kat Designs - Hipbag Hybrid. I liked this design because I can wear it across my shoulder, or I can wear it on my hip - like the old "fanny packs". I can, also, clip it on my bike. My husband and I go bike riding and we needed a bag to keep our money and small items in.

Q3 FAL List

I only completed 2 projects from my Q2 Finish-along list. Following is my Q3 FAL list:
1.)
This quilt I have been working on is First on my list to complete.
2.)
Going on the list, but I'm not sure I will get this completed. So cute, though.
3.)
One more quilt. I do have the quilt top approximately 1/3 complete. Maybe I can finish this one before the end of September. I'd like to.
4.)
This is an old Christmas quilt top that a friend gave me. Not a lot of work to finish it. Just need to set my mind to it.
5.)
I want to sew a mini from this book. I purchased a stand and I have plenty of fabric to complete one.
6.)
Maybe one or both of these minis. If I get the chance to work on them, I would like to.
7.) The next Bag I would like to sew is Swoon Vintage Donna. Donna Vintage bag by Swoon
I have the pattern, but I haven't decided on the fabric yet.
8.) Rainbow Clutch from Anna Graham's book Handmade Style I have the book and I would like to sew this clutch.
9.) Another Poolside Tote also from Anna Graham. I've made one and would like to sew another one.
10.) Apple Pouch from Playful Little Paper-Pieced Projects. I have this book and have been wanting to sew it. It is on the cover, in the upper left-hand corner. So cute!
11.) I want to complete one or more frivols. As you can see, I have collected the whole year's worth; however, I have only completed one so far, which is here Frivol #3 Finished
12.) 2 Pillowcases for my son for his Birthday. I haven't bought the fabric yet, but will get to that. I always use tutorials from All People Quilt: Free Pillowcase Patterns
13.) 2 Pillowcases for my own bed. Still need to purchase fabric for this, too.
14.) I might get time to sew the Walkabout Pattern from StudioKatDesigns. I purchased the pattern a while back and would like to make it.
15.) Basil Wall Hanging. I made the Oregano Wall Hanging here Oregano Post. I purchased both of these a while back and would like to sew the Basil one and then hang them both. I need to find Basil amongst my stash and get it done.
16.) If I get the chance to sew one of these pillows, that would be a nice edition to my living room.
17.) I might make one or two of Clover and Violet's The Phoebe Phone Case.
18.) Possibly, I might sew Patchwork Napkins by GenX Quilters . I purchase this pattern quite a while back, but keep forgetting I have it to sew them. I'd like to get a set done.
19.) I might sew Sophia Pouch by Svetlana. I've had this pattern for a while and have not sewn it yet.
20.) This Eve Clutch by ChrisWDesigns. Another pattern that I've had for a while. I do need a clutch.

Of course, I won't get many of these done, but I have them on a list now so that I can refer to and decide what I need to sew the most. Linking up my Q3 FAL List Q3 FAL at A Quilter's Table
